So this is crazy embarrassing. On the evening of Sunday January 19th while I was hosting the 5th Anniversary of the Shitpost Party on the Further Confusion party floor, and right before a fight broke out in my room, I checked my phone to notice I was logged out of Telegram. I know it either meant my account was compromised or my account was banned. And unfortunately, it was the latter.

Telegram doesn’t tell you why you’re banned. I have a couple theories, from sharing Gameboy Advance ROMs in a public channel, to logging into a public computer at the San Jose Marriott three days in a row, and potentially being associated with other activity on that terminal, and none of this speculation gives me any certainty as to why. I’ve spent the last two weeks emailing Telegram, reaching out to them through several support channels, and trying literally every trick in the book to see if I could recover my account. Unfortunately the attempts have been unsuccessful.

I’ve been a member of Telegram since 2014, signing up for the service in their second year of operation, and I’ve always been an advocate for their resources and ethics. My account contained 11 years of artwork commissions, travel photos shared with friends, and notes I would keep in regards to everything in my life. Telegram was my go to cloud application. And now it’s gone. I never expected this to be as big of a problem as it’s been, but I’ll stop hoping for recovery and begin just setting everything up again.

So what does this mean for FLoP? Unfortunately I used my main telegram account for a lot of FLoP’s presence on the application. So a couple things are affected.

• The FLoP information channel is unavailable.
• The FLoP Spring 2025 chat is unavailable.
• All public FLoP telegram handles are not recoverable.
• All notes I took in regards to room requests are not recoverable.

It's important to note that your reservations are in tact. If you paid for a room, you have a room at FLoP. The event is not canceled.

In regards to that last bullet point, if you requested something special about your FLoP room, such as “I want my room next to my friend” or “I want to be on the bottom floor” I no longer have that information, since I kept all those notes in my Telegram account. In addition, if you paid for your FLoP room outside of our website application Conspace, I don’t have the details on what room type you’re in (King or Double Queen). This applies if you bought a room in-person at FLoP Summer 2024, or paid via PayPal, Venmo or Zelle. If this is you, feel free to reach out to @JohnFLoP on telegram with any of the details you would like to request. I’m so sorry for the inconvenience this has caused, I hate how this situation has to affect others.
